Our voluntary board of Trustees work hard to maintain the sites at Tundergarth, as well as fundraise for the improvement and repair projects across our buildings and ruins. We are always keen to hear from anybody who feels their experience or skill set could benefit the work of the Trust. 

Lori Carnochan

Chair

Lori Carnochan is a freelance Broadcast Journalist who has worked for organisations including ITV, BBC and STV, and runs her own company, Carno Media Limited. She lives in Lockerbie with her family and is an active member of the community.

Lori is a keen supporter of the Gala and Riding of the Marches, and was honoured to hold the position of Standard Bearer in 2024. As Chair of Tundergarth Kirks Trust, Lori uses her journalistic skills to help build relationships with both the community and key stakeholders, curate the website and manage the social media channels.

Kirsty Boardman

Fundraising Manager

Kirsty has a long affinity with Tundergarth, having grown up in the parish and attended the local Primary School. She was selected as a Syracuse scholar in 2008-2009 and her sister followed suit in 2011-2012. Kirsty was married at Tundergarth Church in 2018 and shortly afterwards began her career as a teacher at Lockerbie Academy.

She is a talented sports women having had national success in multiple sports from pistol shooting to eventing. Kirsty helps to drive forward the educational links between the Trust, Lockerbie Academy and Syracuse University, and also leads the fundraising campaigns. The Trustees are also very grateful to Kirsty for her fantastic baking skills, which are enjoyed by all at the board meetings!

David Lee

Church Elder

David lives in Tundergarth with his wife Drene, and the couple regularly attend services at Tundergarth Church. David rides and collects motorbikes, attends TT races and enjoys reading and studying history.

He uses his many DIY skills to help with the regular maintenance of the church, and is a dab hand with a paint brush! David became an elder of the Church in 2018 and helped his fellow Trustees to buy the church from the Church of Scotland.

Drene Lee

Church Elder

Drene lives in a cottage at Tundergarth with her husband David. The couple have four children and seven grandchildren, and they joined the Tundergarth Church in 2012. Alongside David, Drene became an Elder in 2018 and held the position of Treasurer for 6 years, helping to manage the finances during the purchase of the Church.

Although retired, Drene is kept very busy with gardening, crafts, knitting and DIY. She is a strong supporter of community-led projects and enjoys giving back to the community that welcomed her many years ago.

David Paterson

David Paterson has long been part of the Tundergarth Kirk and community- his father was an Elder of the Church for 52 years. David was taught prayers and books of the bible from a young age, when his mother would read the bible to him. At just 23 years old, David was asked to become an Elder of the church and remains the Session Clark.

David works for local bus company Houstons and enjoys traveling both at home and abroad. His other interests include traditional Scots music and dancing. David would like the Kirk to be accessible to all and remain open for many generations to come.  

Ian McLatchie

Vice-Chair

Ian McLatchie is an active member of the Lockerbie community, where he holds the post of Chairperson of both the Lockerbie Community Council and the Lockerbie Gala and Riding of the Marches. Ian lived in Tundergarth Parish for a number of years and is keen to support the development of the Kirk Ruins, as well as help maintain the 1900 church.

His background is predominantly in the hospitality industry, but he acts as the Trust’s “handyman” where no job is too big or small! Ian holds the position of Vice-Chair and uses his extensive contacts list to support the fundraising and events teams. 

Jessie Richardson

Secretary

Jessie is Secretary of Tundergarth Kirks Trust and cares deeply about the Church. She has been a member of the Church for more than 50 years and first joined the board in 2002. She has been the Minutes Clerk for almost ten years and helps to ensure everyone is kept right at the meetings.

Jessie spent 30 years as a first aider with the British Red Cross and was a night carer for 11 years. She is an extremely talented crafter and baker and enjoys walking, gardening and Scottish country dancing. The Trustees are always delighted to enjoy some of Jessie’s tasty home baking!

Lois McLatchie

Treasurer

Lois works for a Dumfries accountancy firm and has always had a keen interest in history. Since her father, Ian, joined the Trust, Lois has learned a lot of information about the terrorist attack of December 21st 1988.

She would like to help develop the educational and remembrance projects with the Trust, and is using her accountancy skills in her role as Treasurer. Outside of work, Lois enjoys socialising with friends and playing netball. 

Dr Becca Farnum

Trustee

Dr Becca Farnum is a geography researcher and educator. Her work has included contributing to United Nations peacebuilding policy; championing equitable access to university through Widening Participation projects; and serving a stint on Michelle Obama’s Correspondence Team at The White House.

As Community Engagement Specialist for Syracuse Abroad and a member of the faculty at Syracuse University London, Becca has been bringing students to Lockerbie for many years. She is passionate about Remembrance and wants to do her part in preserving and sharing the incredible history at Tundergarth.
